Temporary, "non-exempt" position through August 31, 2010 (appointment may be renewed annually based upon available funding and satisfactory job performance).
Salary:
$3,640.00 to $4,680.00 per month.
Work Schedule:
To be arranged. No overtime to be worked on this federally funded position.

Duties:

Under the general supervision of the Project Director and Associate Director, the incumbent will be responsible for implementing college-readiness activities at Rialto High School, Eisenhower High School and Carter High School. The incumbent will assist the Associate Director in creating and implementing activities that meet project objectives and serve the needs of the schools. The incumbent will collect and review transcripts, counsel students and parents regarding college readiness, interpret results of standardized tests and interest inventories, and provide training. The incumbent will participate in individual and group work high school students, parents, teachers, and administrators; transcript review; training of mentors to assist with transcript review and consultation with stakeholders; home visits and supervision of mentor home visits; supervision of graduate students at school sites; assistance to schools in coordinating activities and data collection. The incumbent will work with school and district personnel to ensure that project objectives and school and district needs are met. The incumbent will evaluate and promote best practices that meet program objectives and align with state curriculum standards, American School Counselor Association national standards, and Competencies for Student Curriculum standards. In addition, the incumbent will ensure that programs and resources are implemented at targeted schools and analyze data to ensure that the programs are effective. The incumbent will serve as a member of the GUIE-HSI team, providing insight and analysis on the impact of the program on targeted students. The incumbent will help to promote future non-federal partnerships for GUIE-HSI.

Qualifications:

Applicants must be pursuing a credential in Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) and must be pursuing or possess a Masters Degree in Education. Applicants must have the ability to work independently as well as within a team and with district, school, and program personnel. Applicants must have strong skills in business writing, planning, organization, and interpersonal relations. Experience with high school students and their families is highly desirable, along with Bilingual Spanish. Applicants are required to work in the Rialto Unified School District. Applicants must also support events at CSUSB. Applicants must be available to attend evening and weekend events, as required.

Qualified candidate(s) must successfully pass a thorough background investigation prior to appointment, including Live Scan fingerprinting clearance to work with minors.
