Salary:
$1,126.00 to $1,280.00 per month.

Duties:

Under the general supervision of the WorkAbility IV Career Development Coordinator, the incumbent will assist with job development and placement services and will provide educational services coordination for students with disabilities who are clients of the California Department of Rehabilitation. The incumbent will conduct active job searches and placement for students, contact employers to obtain individual interviews for students and visit local personnel departments and human resources managers. The incumbent will assist students in preparing resumes, applications, cover letters, salary history; and will assist students in researching job leads and submitting resumes electronically. The incumbent will evaluate and promote professionalism of the students, and will counsel students regarding Individualized Plans of Employment and appropriate majors. The incumbent will advise students/DOR clients regarding available services at the Palm Desert Campus. The incumbent will coordinate workshops covering a variety of topics, including but not limited to job-seeking and retention skills to disability disclosure, and will participate in case reviews. The incumbent will document student visits, prepare monthly reports and attend campus meetings. The incumbent will perform all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess the equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, along with a minimum of two years of job development experience. Academic advising experience is preferred. Equivalent amounts of job-related experience may be substituted for the education requirement. Applicants must be a self-starter and have the ability to work both independently and as a team member. Applicants must possess excellent telephone and in-person communication skills as well as the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employers, staff, students and faculty. Applicants must possess the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information along with the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of people. Applicants must have a general knowledge of individual and group behavior. Applicants must possess a working knowledge of correct English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and be able to write clear and concise reports and express ideas and recommendations orally. Applicants must have proficiency in using standard office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and the ability to use the internet. Applicants must have the ability to travel and provide their own transportation to local businesses (mileage will be reimbursed). Qualified candidate(s) must successfully pass a thorough background investigation prior to appointment.
