Smoking Policy

California State University, San Bernardino, is committed to creating a safe, healthful and productive environment for its students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The university is also committed to recognizing and appreciating the remarkable diversity, including personal preferences and cultural norms, as expressed on the campus. Consistent with these goals, California State University, San Bernardino, establishes the following Smoking Policy.

The purpose of this policy is to identify locations and conditions under which smoking will be permitted at California State University, San Bernardino.

Smoking shall be prohibited inside all university-owned and university-occupied or university-leased and university-occupied buildings, or within fifteen (15) feet of any entrance, exit, or mechanical system air intake structure to such buildings. Smoking shall be prohibited in any vehicle owned or leased by the university. In special circumstances where the application of this policy appears ambiguous, unreasonable, or unsatisfactorily inclusive, it shall be the responsibility of the Environmental Health and Safety Department to evaluate and determine how the policy should be implemented.
