Defensive Driving Test

The successful completion of the CSUSB Defensive Driving Course is required for all State employees who will be driving a state vehicle or privately owned vehicle on official state business, including electric carts. This is mandated by the State for liability purposes.

You can complete the course by accessing the newly established Online Defensive Driving Course on our website. It consists of a 15 minute video followed by a multiple choice test. Be prepared to set aside 30 minutes to complete the course. Upon completion of the course, you will need to bring the DMV form that is provided on the website along with your driver’s license to Parking Services to receive your Defensive Driving Card. You may need to download QuickTime to run the video if you don’t already have it on your computer.

We also offer the course at Parking Services (TO-209) every Tuesday at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 3:00 p.m.. Employees must bring a pencil and their valid driver's license.

Employees must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid California driver's license.

Only 8 answers may be missed in order to pass the test. If successful, employees are given a CSUSB Defensive Driving Card valid for 3 years. The card should be carried with a valid Driver's License at all times. The Defensive Driving Card is not to be substituted for a valid driver's license.
