.Meal Plan

The Meal Plans we offer were created with you in mind. We know the college lifestyle can be busy. Our Meal Plans are the perfect way to ensure a convenient, hassle-free dining experience at CSUSB.

How the Meal Plans Work
It’s easy! First, select the plan that will best fit your needs. Funds are then put onto your Coyote One Card (your student ID card). When you’re ready to make a purchase, simply hand your card to the cashier, and the appropriate amount will be deducted from your account. Use your Coyote One Card to access your Meal Plan funds at the Commons, Student Union, and Concessions.

Choose a Plan:

Meal Plan #1: $650.00 per quarter or $1950.00 per school year (Fall, Winter, Spring)
Meal Plan #2: $810.00 per quarter or $2430.00 per school year (Fall, Winter, Spring)

To accommodate our students in the way they have requested, our meal plans are designed to be free choice dining. In other words you can go to the Commons or the Student Union for a large selection of meal choices.  Your meal plan is designed to work on a declining balance system where your balance is reduced by the amount you spend.  Plan #1 will allow you $65.00 per week or $9.29 per day; Plan #2 will allow you $81.00 per week or $11.57 per day.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Who must buy a Meal Plan?

All Serrano Village residents are required to purchase a Meal Plan. This is mandated by the Student Housing License Agreement.  If you do not want or cannot afford a Meal Plan you should not accept assignment at Serrano Village.  There are no exceptions to this requirement.

I will not be living in Serrano Village. Should I buy a Meal Plan?

Yes! Even though non-Serrano Village residents are not required to purchase a Meal Plan, we encourage all students living on campus take advantage of the benefits of a Meal Plan.  If you choose not to have a Meal Plan but like the convenience of using your Coyote ID card you can purchase Flex Cash to be used on campus for your convenience.  See the Dining Services Office, Commons Room 219, or Meal Plan Office, Foundation Room 105 to inquire more about Flex Cash.

Will Financial Aid make payments toward my Meal Plan?

While Financial Aid funds may be used towards a meal plan, the Financial Aid office will not make direct payments for your Meal Plans. It is up to you, the student, to pay for your Meal Plan via cash, credit card or check in one annual payment or for each quarter based on which payment option you have chosen on your Meal Plan Application. For your convenience, payments can be made in the Commons, Room 219 or the Meal Plan Office, Foundation Building Room 105, or the Foundation Cashier’s Office.

Do Meal Plan funds roll over?

The meal plan program is designed to provide a certain number of meals per week. We must operate under the assumption you will use those meals and prepare daily meals accordingly.  Therefore, any unused balance that remains at the end of the quarter is forfeited.

How will I know my balance?

Each time you use your meal plan, your receipt will indicate the remaining balance. We suggest you monitor your balance to help budget your Meal Plan.

What if I run out of Meal Plan funds?
You may add Meal Plan funds or Flex Cash to your Coyote One Card at any time at the Dining Services Office in the Commons Room 219, or in the Meal Plan Office in the Foundation Building Room 105. Flex Cash may be used at all Dining Services locations, the Coyote Bookstore, and the Coyote Express Convenience stores and the printing and copy machines. Flex Cash may also be added to your card at the Cash Value Machines located in the Library, ACM Lab, Computer Lab in Jack Brown and on the first floor of University Hall and Flex Cash does roll over from quarter to quarter.

How do I cancel the Meal Plan?
Meal Plan contracts are based on the current academic year Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters.  Cancellations are only accepted from students who officially withdraw from CSUSB or move out of the Serrano Village Residence Hall and submit a Meal Plan Cancellation Form.  All other cancellation requests will be reviewed by the Meal Plan Administrator and are subject to approval and may be subject to a cancellation fee.  Submitting a cancellation request does not imply approval.

What if lose my Coyote One Card?

Treat your meal plan card like as if it were cash.  If you should lose it, please call the Meal Plan Office (909)537-7308 as soon as you notice it is missing so we can deactivate it and have a new card issued.
